Upon arrival in the Park, you’ll enjoy a private guided walking tour along the Kilauea Summit with a volcano expert. Your walk will end at the Volcano House hotel, where you’ll enjoy exclusive access to an area overlooking the awe-inspiring Halema’uma’u Crater. Sit back and relax as you indulge in a scrumptious selection of local pupu’s (hors d’oeuvres), artisan cheese, and fruit, and sip on local vintages, all while surrounded by the island’s incredible landscapes and phenomenal sights.

During your tour, you’ll sample some of the most extraordinary local vintages, including their special Tea wines, paired with gourmet cheese and crackers.

Encounter nature's glory at breathtaking Rainbow Falls and its iconic waterfall, 80 feet tall and nearly 100 feet in diameter, nestled amid lush, pristine rainforest. When it's sunny, rainbows materialize in the mist, and when rain pounds the island, the waterfall's increased volume makes for an impressive show. Then turn your vision skyward with a visit to the Imiloa Astronomy Center, which unites Hawaiian culture with the art of astronomy, long practiced by Pacific Islanders. (Imiloa means "exploration driven by a sense of wonder and imagination" in Hawaiian.) Experience a full-dome planetarium show, a mesmerizing space voyage, Hawaiian sound and light show, and a self-guided tour of the more than 100 exhibits. Then it's off to the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Visitor Center to witness the growing, harvesting, and processing of many Mauna Loa products. The company, which was founded in 1946, harvests 35 million pounds of macadamia nuts, one of Hawaii's biggest export crops. Your adventure begins with a drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, 4,300 feet above sea level and a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll see the awe-inspiring Kilauea volcano, home of Pele, the legendary goddess of fire. You will also see he natural steam vents of one of the youngest and most active volcanoes on earth. Its present eruptions are among the longest-lived on Earth, having begun in 1983. The park, considered a sacred place, is one of Hawaii's most popular attractions, as visitors here are mesmerized by the primal process of creation and destruction. After the wild beauty and raw power of the volcano, savor a more fragile form of nature at the Akatsuka Orchid Gardens. Since 1974, it's been a go-to grower of these exotic beauties, having more than 500 blooming orchids on display. These include mother plants and their offspring, some of which have been developed as hybrids. Among orchid varieties you'll see are dendrobiums, oncidiums, phalaenopsis, miltonia, odontoglossums, and lesser-known varieties. The gardens also contain anthuriums, bromeliads, and other tropical plants.

Visit three of Hilo's leading attractions on this highlights tour. Walk a mile-long natural pathway through lush tropical forest and delight in the breathtaking sight of Akaka Falls, which cascade down 442 feet over a volcanic cliff. Travel through nut orchards to Big Island Candies to sample tropical treats and shop. At Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo, animals live in a botanical garden-like setting featuring orchids, bamboos and other tropical plants.

Explore the famed Hamakua Coast, home to magnificent country reminiscent of "old Hawaii". Sparsely populated Hamakua is studded with breathtaking waterfalls, stunning valleys, and eccentric towns. Traveling north, first stop at Tex Drive-In, famous for made-to- order malasadas. These fried Portuguese sweet treats were originally brought to Hawaii by immigrants who worked in the cattle industry and have been a local favorite ever since. Watch the treats being made through the window and have the option to purchase a fresh one with a cup of coffee. The Valley of the Kings, Waipio Valley is a place of impossibly steep cliffs carved by plunging waterfalls cascading more than a thousand feet to the valley floor below. Waipio Valley is still home to taro farmers as it has been for a thousand years. Look closely from the overlook and glimpses of the wild horses that roam the valley floor might be possible. Turning off the highway we descend into Laupahoehoe Point. Laupahoehoe village was located here until the destruction left behind the 1946 tsunami forced the town to move to higher ground. Look for the monument erected in the names of those who lost there lives here. Next stop at Akaka Falls State Park, the site of the largest easily accessible waterfall on the island. You'll traverse a paved walking path right through the center of a lush rainforest to Akaka Falls, a stunning 442 foot waterfall that plunges down a sheer cliff and into the water below. Continue your adventure with stops at two icons of Hilo, Rainbow Falls and the King Kamehameha statue. Rainbow falls is an iconic waterfall right off a postcard featuring an 80 foot tall twin waterfall system. Look for the rainbow effect that gives the waterfall its name! Leaving the Hamakua coast behind, you travel to historic Hilo Bay to enjoy a deli style lunch. Complete the day with a shopping stop with Hawaiian mac nut samples, Hawaii Island crafts, local products, Kona coffee and more.

Delve into Hawaii's natural wonders on a guided hike through the Lyon Arboretum, a 200-acre botanical garden nestled at the back of Manoa Valley. The 194-acre arboretum, named for the botanist Dr. Harold R. Lyon, its first director, and managed by the University of Hawaii, is part of a vast tropical rainforest, and features over 5,000 different species of plants, housed in several themed and memorial gardens. It's also home to many tropical birds. During a two-hour hike, you'll see native Hawaiian plants, bromeliads, gingers, a Japanese-style garden, spice trees – cola nut, nutmeg, bay rum, and more; herbs from different parts of the world, and a variety of trees and plants considered "economically important," to Hawaii, including the lipstick plant, cassava, and durian. Re-board your coach for a short, winding ride to Puu Ualakaa State Park to witness one of the most spectacular vistas on the island, Pu‘u Uala Ka‘a lookout, located at the top of Mount Tantalus. From this vantage point you'll have a true panoramic view that takes in Oahu from Diamond Head to Waikiki, Punchbowl Crater, and downtown Honolulu, all the way to Pearl Harbor, Hickam Air Force Base, and the Pacific Ocean.

Travel through a tropical rainforest into the lush Nuuanu Valley to begin a historical highlights tour of the 1,000-year old Kingdom of Hawaii. First, stop at the Nuuanu Pali Lookout, sitting 1,000 feet above the Oahu coastline, which for visitors offers incomparable views of the island, but Hawaiian history recalls it as the site of the fierce 1795 Battle of Nuuanu that finally brought Oahu under the rule of King Kamehameha I.
