Begin with an approximate 30 minute ride into the heart of the city, followed by a panoramic tour of the city by coach before you disembark and cover most of the sights on foot. Step back in time on a city walk through Rostock, Mecklenburg Vorpommern’s largest city.

Depart by coach for an approximate 75-minute journey to Wismar, a medieval beauty founded in 1229. Upon arrival you’ll enjoy a guided walk and explore this quaint Hanseatic city which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk along cobbled streets with Gothic houses, Baroque buildings and Renaissance facades. Proceed to northern Europe’s oldest university, the University of Rostock, founded in 1419 and built in Italian Renaissance style. Depart the pier for Bad Doberan, a former summer residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg and home to a grand example of Gothic red brick architecture. Enjoy a visit into the Minster, which was built between 1294 and 1368 and used to be a mighty Cistercian convent. It is home to one of Germany’s earliest winged altars and also exhibits the earliest wood carved Madonna statue in northern Germany dating back to 1290. Drive through the central part of Klaipeda to the resort town of Palanga. A stroll through the Botanical Park leads you to the 19th-century Neo-Renaissance-styled mansion that houses the biggest Amber Museum in the Baltics. During your visit, the Amber Museum will reveal the marvel of its Baltic gold; amber's origins, places where it can be found, and amber processing and jewelry-making. You will also have an opportunity to stroll through the gardens, and see the swans and other birds in the ponds, on the way back to your coach.

Mingle with local Latvians by traveling on the train and public buses to several waterfront districts, where you will meander about the attractions. The train will bring you to Vecaki, a district on the Gulf of Riga known for its beaches. While there, the guide will enhance your understanding of the capital’s turbulent history by elaborating on the nearby fortifications that date to the Napoleonic Wars. You will then board a public bus and enjoy a genuine slice of daily Latvian life on the way to the Vecmilgravis district. The guide will point out buildings constructed during the time that the Soviets occupied Latvia. Like several neighboring Baltic countries, Latvia gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The most historical building is the White Church. Built near the water during the late 18th century, the wooden Lutheran church features a tower that local fishermen have long used as a lighthouse of sorts to help them navigate.

Visit a rural farm and tour the fields with the owners, who will be quite willing to discuss how farming and life has changed since Latvia’s independence from the Soviet Union. During the Soviet era, collective farming was practiced, in which government-owned farms banded together to grow crops. When Latvia gained its independence in 1991, farms could be privately owned again. The farm that you will visit grows an abundance of raspberries and strawberries, as the conditions in this part of Latvia are quite favorable for both crops. Growing berries became even more widespread following the Soviet era because the farmers could directly reap the benefits. You may have the opportunity to pick your own berries in the fields and enjoy them while lingering over a cup of tea with the owners of the farm. Feel free to ask them about their lives before and after Soviet rule. It is sure to be an eye-opening experience.

Head to the picturesque town of Sigulda, located about 30 miles from Riga. During the drive you will enjoy the beautiful forest scenery and magnificent views of the River Gauja valley. Sigulda is often called the Latvian Switzerland and is well known as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Latvia. Visit the 13th century Turaida Castle and the fortification tower, where you can enjoy the picturesque landscape from a bird's-eye view. By the Turaida church under an old linden tree, you will find the grave of a young girl - the Rose of Turaida - the heroine of a true love story from the 17th century. Visit the sculpture park dedicated to Latvian folklore.

Riga, the capital of Latvia, was founded more than 800 years ago and has now grown into the most cosmopolitan city in the Baltic States. Founded in 1201 during the Middle Ages, Riga was developed into a Hanseatic city, and by the 18-th and 19-th century had grown into one of Europe’s leading ports and industrial centers. As a cosmopolitan city Riga was once revered as “the Paris of the North”. Years of independence and becoming a member of the European Union have brought great changes and development to the city and to the country itself. Enjoy a short driving along the boulevards, parks and charming green sports of Riga. During this part of the tour enjoy the opportunity to admire various unforgettable examples of Art Nouveau buildings, as well as Latvian National Museum of Art, the Monument of Freedom erected in 1935 on the donations of citizens of Latvia, Latvian University, National Opera and other remarkable buildings. Discover the historical Old Riga on foot and acquaint yourself with the churches, renovated buildings, and glorious Dome Cathedral – a masterpiece of architecture, which you will have a chance to visit. Foundations for the cathedral were laid in 1211. Large restauration works from the late 19th to early 20th centuries gave it its present look. The Dome, the tallest of all spires at the time, is famous for its magnificent organ, constructed in 1883, with more than 6,000 pipes. A short drive follows to Tallinn’s Upper Town, passing ancient walls and tower gateways. Disembark your coach at Tall Hermann Tower from where flies the national blue, black and white flag. Walk up Toompea Hill to Palace Square to view the Baroque Toompea Castle, now the residence of the Estonian Parliament, and to visit the Russian Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a dominating feature of Upper Town’s city skyline and home to numerous golden icons and mosaics.

Your tour begins with a drive through the picturesque Estonian countryside towards one of the oldest towns of Estonia – Rakvere. This town is located about 100 km east of Tallinn. Stop at the Rebala Heritage Reserve to look at an ancient cemetery from the Nordic Bronze.
