One of the most diverse ecosystems in the world, the Belize Barrier Reef is comprised of 70 hard coral species and 36 soft coral species and is home to 500 species of fish, with many more still to be discovered. Charles Darwin described it as "the most remarkable barrier reef in the West Indies" in 1842. A large portion of the reef is protected by the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System and offers incredible diving and snorkeling opportunities. The Tropical Education Center was started in 1983 as an attempt to provide a home for various wild animals that had been featured in documentary films about the rainforest. Today, the Belize Zoo covers approximately 29 acres of tropical savannah and features over 125 animal's native to Belize, many of which were found injured and nursed back to health. The Belize Barrier Reef is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most fascinating living reef systems in the world. Turneffe Atoll is one of only four coral atolls found in the entire western hemisphere, and its dive sites lie in a conservation area. The first dive explores the atoll's thriving coral wall and reaches depths of 60 feet. The second dive explores a different area that takes you up to the colorful coral wall.

The mission of the Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program is the preservation of the fragile coral reefs, providing educational programs promoting conservation of the coral reefs, and the restoration of reefs affected by human activities and storms. It aims to educate and empower others to take care of and improve our ocean. A nonprofit organization, it is funded solely by donations. The program allows ecologically minded travelers to experience the beauty of the sea while aiding marine biologists with their important work in the local ecosystem, assisting in a variety of tasks that could include coral fragments planting, gathering, identification or even beach restoration activities. Snorkelers later are guided through coral gardens appreciate the environment that they've helped to preserve.

Take a short transfer to the dock and board "Graziafelice" for the day's adventure. Receive a safety briefing, then unwind aboard this lovely catamaran that has sailed around the world several times and features airy sundecks. Enjoy the Caribbean breeze as you sail along Roatan's reef and coastline for approximately and hour and twenty minutes. Arrive at the snorkel site where you will marvel at the amazing underwater scenery, including spectacular coral formations and beautiful tropical fish. Snorkel for approximately one hour.
