Bari not only sits pretty on the Adriatic but is also blessed with a beguiling medieval quarter - Bari Vecchia - that this tour will have you exploring by bike. You'll meet your guide, then get a short safety briefing and after putting your helmet on, you'll set off at a pleasant pace. The first of the medieval views comes in the shape of the early 12th-century Castello Normanno-Svevo, built by the Norman King Roger II, as you cycle towards the Basilica di San Nicola, built between 1087 and 1197 in honour of Bari's patron saint. You'll visit the site before cycling down Strada del Carmine to pass Bari Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Sabinus, and consecrated at the tail end of the 13th-century. As a last treat on the bike ride, you'll pedal your way up to Castello Normanno-Svevo to enjoy superb panoramic views of the town and surrounding area. You'll then have some time to spend as you wish before returning to the port and your ship.

Discover the architectural wonders of beautiful Bari in this leisurely half-day excursion. Board a little wheeled train and get set to explore the city in all its glory. This guided tour of Bari will also bring you the opportunity of a stroll around the historical quarter of "Bari Vecchia" and its medieval architecture. A visit to the Basilica of St. Nicholas is included, built in honour of Bari's patron saint. Founded towards the end of the 11th-century A.D., the basilica has been an important religious pilgrimage site for nearly a thousand years. An exterior viewing of Bari's old Norman castle will form a further focal point of your tour itinerary before continuing with a guided walk through the historical centre. Some free time at leisure is also part of the tour before it concludes with the return to your ship. Please note: This tour is unsuitable for guests with walking difficulties. Guests are requested to wear appropriate attire for religious visits. Guests may choose to return to the port soon after the guided tour or to remain in Bari's city centre to have free time and come back to the port by shuttle bus later.

About a 1-hour coach drive up the coast from the port of Bari lies the pretty harbour town of Trani, your destination on this enjoyable tour, which combines a sightseeing leg with a chance to sample some of the delicious locally produced olive oil. Trani's long and rich history, which dates back to its 9th-century foundation, is still prominent in the town to this day. As you make your way around the town's history trail, your first stop will be Svevo Castle, an imposing 13th-century fortification of highly rectilinear construction that overlooks the sea. You will have some time to spend at your leisure before you continue on to the 11th-/12th-century Cathedral of San Nicola Pellegrino. Built in honour of San Nicola the Pilgrim, this magnificent Romanesque-style building is a real treasure, with the stunning stained-glass windows, the remains of a 12th-century mosaic floor and the transversal crypt dedicated to San Nicola particularly worthy of mention. The sightseeing leg of the tour ends with a refreshing walk along the seafront promenade before the coach then takes you to an old oil mill for an informative visit and a chance to tantalise your taste buds with some of the wonderful locally produced olive oil and other typically Puglian delicacies. Your return to the port and your ship ends the tour.

Leave the port of Bari for a scenic 1-hour coach ride through the Italian countryside to Alberobello, a town in the Apulia region that forms the top of the "heel" of the boot of Italy. Thanks to its distinctive round stone houses with conical roofs, known as "trulli", the town was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1996. Your tour includes a guided walk through the delightful streets of this most unusual village. Many of these "trullo" houses are topped by a so-called "pinnacolo" - a sort of white cap or sphere - and all of them have curious symbols, possibly good-luck charms, painted on the roofs. The town also includes the only "trullo" church in the world, St. Antonio which can be easily recognized with its monumental entrance, two side chapels and a bell tower. If there is time, you will also go on a short sightseeing tour of Bari by coach before you return to the port and your ship.

Leave the port for a 1-hour drive to the Caves of Castellana where we will meet our guide for a fantastic subterranean journey through the cave complex. The caves were first explored in 1938, although their existence had been known since the XVIII century. At 60 metres deep, marvel at the cave chambers and the myriad of alabaster stalagmites and stalactites encrusted with calcite crystals. Back above ground we will travel on to Polignano a Mare, a lovely town perched high on a rock with wonderful views over the sea. Explore the whitewashed streets meandering under the flowered arches and enjoy the hillside terrace that overlook the sea.

Enjoy a 1-hour drive to Matera, the city of the weird and wonderful "Sassi", caves and the first town in the world to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your journey will be enhanced by some information you will receive by an assistant before reaching this amazing location. These caves were inhabited from the Neolithic times right up until 1952. Perhaps because of its unique and tangible history, the atmosphere here is extraordinary and the place exudes a mystic air. You visit "Casa Grotta", a furnished Sassi cave museum house, giving you an insight into people's life in the past in these peculiar houses, and even a rocky church, which is the symbol of the local culture. Many film directors have chosen to set films in Matera, as it is such an evocative place and Mel Gibson's controversial film, "The Passion of the Christ", was shot here.

Time to do nothing but hang loose, stretch out on golden sands, and ponder the meaning of life are what holidays are all about. Hop on your coach for a transfer to a beach club on the coast of Monopoli area and spend approx. 3 hours making the best of your time, working on your tan or swimming in the crystal sea. The beach club is equipped with sun umbrellas and beach chairs to make your stay pleasant and relaxing. The excursion concludes with the drive back to the port of Bari.

No visit to the romantic city of Venice could ever be considered complete if it failed to include a trip on a typical Venetian gondola, rowed by a traditional gondolier. To acquire a licence to practise this old and venerable profession, a would-be gondolier must prove to have expert navigational skills, know the waterways inside out and be familiar with the city's history and landmarks. As you make your way from canal to canal, you can admire the beautiful bridges, the magnificent royal palaces, and the typical narrow Venetian streets, called calli, from a unique perspective. The excursion includes free time in St. Mark's Square, home also of St. Mark's Cathedral that you will admire from outside before a local guide takes you on an informative and comprehensive walk around the calli. The tour draws to a close with the return to the port by boat.

Your Venetian day begins with a 2-hour coach drive from Monfalcone through the regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto during which you can enjoy the landscape. Next, a boat is waiting for you for a pleasant cruise in Venice lagoon to reach Murano. In 1291, when furnaces were banned from Venice as a fire precaution, the manufacture of exquisite glassware was transferred to this island. Witness the masters of this delicate craft at work during your visit to a leading factory followed by an opportunity to acquire some of this timeless art. Next, board the boat again and reach one of Venice's most famous site: St Mark's Square. Once there, start your guided walking around this world-famous square with the iconic Doge's Palace, the bridge of Sighs, San Marco Basilica. Your guide will provide you plenty of information outside these monuments before boarding the boat again to return to your awaiting coach for the drive back to Monfalcone.

Experience the best of Venice's outstanding cultural heritage on this memorable tour. A boat will take you to St. Mark's Square, and you will then have a few hours to visit the Doge's Palace on your own. This unique monument was built between 1309 and 1424 and then damaged during a fire in 1574. The sympathetic restoration work respects the original Gothic style. Since the 16th-century, the Palace has been linked to the city's prison by the famous Bridge of Sighs. Before returning to the port, you will also have a little free time to spend in St. Mark's Square.

If you disembark in Venice and want to taste a little of the city before taking your flight home, enjoy a gondola ride to explore this romantic city. As you travel from canal to canal, a breathtaking vista of bridges, palaces, and narrow streets, known as calli, unfolds before your eyes. The tour includes a little free time in St. Mark's Square, before which a local guide will take you on an informative walk around the calli. Thanks to a pre-reserved access time, you will have the opportunity to independently visit one of the symbols of Venice: the magnificent Doge's Palace. On returning to the port and collecting your luggage, your tour will be brought to a close with your transfer to Venice Marco Polo airport.

If the adrenalin-pumping thrill of riding white-water rapids is something you have always wanted to do, join this half-day tour and prepare to cross the activity off your personal bucket list. A 45-minute coach journey will first take you from Zadar to reach the beautiful Zrmanja River, whose source lies in the Lika mountains and meanders down to empty into the Adriatic Sea. Youll be met by instructors who will first brief you on safety issues, after which youll embark on the ride of your life in either a canoe or on a rafting boat. Look forward to stretches of calm  time to enjoy the gorgeous scenery along the route  and stretches of frothing rapids while escorted by your expert tour guides. You will spend about 3 hours exploring the river, after which the return drive to Zadar and your ship brings this adventure tour to a close. Please note: this tour is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties or using a wheelchair. Guests must be in good physical conditions and be able to padde along an approx. 3-hour route on the river. Guests will use canoes or rafting boats, depending on Zrmanja water level on the day of call.

Croatias mountainous Lika region is where youll find the vast Plitvice Lakes National Park, the nations largest of eight and about a 2.5-hour coach ride from the port. The park is home to a total of 16 lakes, separated by dams of travertine, which in turn are formed by deposits of moss, algae and bacteria. Of these 16, 12 are called the Upper Lakes, or Gornja jezera, and four the Lower Lakes, or Donja jezera. The lakes themselves are famed for their fabulous and ever-changing colours, ranging from azure and green to grey and blue, while the surrounding landscape boasts dense forestation of mainly beech, spruce and fir trees, but also supports a variety of Alpine and Mediterranean vegetation thanks to the parks wide range of microclimates. Most notably, though, the park provides a natural habitat for numerous species of animal, including such rare individuals as the European brown bear, wolves, eagles, owls, lynx, wild cats and wood grouse. Keep your camera at hand throughout the tour to capture some of the most spectacular karstic landscapes on the planet before the coach returns you to Zadar and your ship. Please note: this tour includes extensive walking on uneven ground so it is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties or using a wheelchair. Sightings of animals cannot be guaranteed. Guests are advised that time constraints will mean only the lower lakes can be visited.

Simeon, Chrysogonus, Anastasia and Zoilus  no, not the latest pop band, but rather the four patron saints that protect the Croatian port of Zadar, founded more than 3.000 ago. Intending to familiarise you with the town's particularly rich religious heritage, the tour begins with a visit to the 9th-century pre-Romanesque Church of St. Donatus, a rotunda that occupies the north-eastern corner of the old Roman forum. Next up is the monumental interior of the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, built partly in the 4th and 5th, partly in the 12th and 13th centuries, after which you'll move on to the 11th-century Church of St. Mary, situated on the eastern part of the Roman forum. The Romanesque Church of St. Chrysogonus, consecrated in 1175, follows as well as the Church of St. Simeon, home of the reliquary of St. Simeon, and finally the Gothic Church of St. Francis, where the 1358 Zadar Peace Treaty was signed. You will then have one hour time to retrace the steps of ancient civilisations as you check out Zadar's appealing townscape on your own before returning to the ship.

Croatia certainly has more than its fair share of natural beauty and one such example, the sizeable Krka National Park, forms your scenic destination on this enjoyable half-day tour. Stunning views of ibenik-Knin county will keep you entertained during the 45-minute coach transfer to the park. Once youve arrived, youll first head for one of the parks most popular attractions, the beautiful natural pool and waterfall called Skradinski buk. The River Krka runs through the area and feeds the Skradinski waterfall, one of three cascades in the park. Do keep your camera at hand as you set off on a guided walk through the greenery, revealing not only views of the river and gushing cascades, but also including a visit to an old mill with an ethnographic exhibition. There will also be time for you to explore the natural setting at your leisure before the coach ride back to the port, with more lovely vistas to savour on the way, wraps up the tour. Please note: this tour is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties or using a wheelchair.

Fresh air, glorious scenery and hiking make up the main ingredients of this half-day outing, which begins with a 45-minute coach ride to the Paklenica National Park, a forested area of ravines and canyons. Paklenica was made a national park in 1949 in an effort to protect Dalmatia's largest forest complex, which had come under threat due to overexploitation. Your 3-hour hike through the majestic terrain will deliver fabulous views of this highly varied mountain landscape, along with a surfeit of flora and fauna. Among the wildlife found in the park are roe deer, chamois, brown bears and numerous other mammals, a variety of birdlife including golden eagles, peregrine falcons and woodpeckers as well as the rare meadow viper, whose conservation status is classified as vulnerable. Also part of the park are the two breathtaking canyons of Velika and Mala Paklenica. Stop en route to eat your lunch box (fruit, sandwich, water and croissant). At the end of your hike, you will return to the coach for the relaxing ride back to the ship.

Leave the ship and join us in discovering one of the most beautiful beaches of Zadar Region. Queen's Beach is located just 30 minutes' drive from the port of Zadar in the shallow lagoon of the nearby city Nin. The legend claims it takes its name from the unknown queen, wife of the first Croatian king Tomislav, who loved to spend time on the beach, enchanted by the magnificent view over the Velebit Mountain. This sandy beach is 3 km long and its beauty attracts many visitors and tourist in search for refreshment during hot summer days. Moreover, due to its shallow water, it is ideal for families with children but also for the non-swimmers and nature lovers. This beach is also known for the healing peloid mud that can be found there. The therapy, which usually lasts from ten to twenty days, involves covering the body with the mud, then sunbathing on the sandy beach, then rinsing off the mud with warm sea water. Enjoy time in the sun, working on your tan, and swimming in the blue sea. At the fixed time, the coach will take you back to the port. Please note: this tour is available from June to September and depends on weather conditions. It takes place in the morning. We recommend bringing sun lotion and a towel. Parasol and sunbeds included.
