Before heading the airport, take a little time to take in Tampa. After leaving your ship and claiming your luggage, spend 3.5 hours on a tour that takes you to the city?s most popular sites. See the University of Tampa, with its gorgeous main building heavily steeped in Moorish influences. See the downtown skyline as you head down Bayshore Boulevard. Also enjoy free time to explore and shop in historic Ybor City, the Cuban district of Tampa.

A tour that combines the seaside splendor of Costa Maya with the exhilaration of exploring its underwater landscapes? That’s exactly what you’ll experience with this day along the stunning Mexican Caribbean, an outing open to both beginners and advanced snorkelers. First you’ll be transported to the Beach Escape Beach Club, a coastal haven located along the boardwalk at the Fisherman’s Village. When your time comes, head to the beach to meet your experienced bilingual guide, who will provide all the necessary gear for your aquatic adventure. Walk out from the shore and then flutter your way to the reef, where you’ll view colorful coral and encounter a variety of marine life including parrotfish, angelfish and eagle rays. Once back onshore feel free to take advantage of the beach club’s amenities including beach chairs, a pool and complimentary kayaks. You’ll even be treated to an open pool bar, where you can join in a festive party atmosphere while sipping unlimited cocktails, beer and soft drinks. Thrill-seekers, an exhilarating zip line ride will have you soar high above the Mayan jungle for a blissful bird’s-eye view of the colorful, thick canopy of the woodlands in Costa Maya. A short motor coach ride will take you to the Mayá, Lost Mayan Kingdom water park.   Prior to your aerial adventure, you’ll receive instruction and safety tips, such as securing your harness before your flight along the inclined cables. You’ll have the choice of two long courses that will have you zipping from one platform to the next. Hoisted several feet above the jungle floor you’ll zigzag around the waterpark high above the treetops. The courses lead your right into a refreshing pool of water. As you transverse the waterpark, soak up the ocean views and watch out for wildlife. In fact, tropical birds may join you while in flight. The thrilling twists and turns on the Kukulcan Zip Coaster may have you reeling with delight.  Transition into a more laid back experience when your tour visits a local beach resort. Let paradise become your personal playground when you explore the water parks and beaches of Costa Maya. A short ride with your guide will take you deep into the dense Mayan jungle to the Mayá, Lost Mayan Kingdom water park. Once inside your fun-filled family day will have you slip, slide and splash through the theme park.  Get your heart pumping as you coast down the 12 water slides like the thrilling, enclosed Xibalba that may have you shriek at its 90-degree drop. You can also coast past your friends and family as you race down Chaac’s spine. Get an adrenaline rush from an 82-foot fall on the Kisim and Xtabay. Transition into a more laid back experience as you laze on an inner tube and float on the Jaguar River that goes through the entire park passing beautiful natural scenes. Join us on a journey to the ancient  place of Mayan pilgrimage known today as Chacchoben, “The Place of Red Corn.” At the pier you will be greeted by bilingual guides who will direct you to an air-conditioned bus. Onboard the bus your guide will brief you on the interesting history and unique culture of the tour ahead.  The bus ride to Chacchoben is about 50 mins. When you arrive, your guide will escort you through the ruins located deep in the Mayan Jungle, giving you complete explanations of the sacred temples and other structures seen there as well as great information about this ancient civilization.  See original red paint on the stucco walls of one of the pyramids and the temple where a mural was found showing the astronomical positions of the planet Venus. You will have time to climb the Gran Basamento taking you above tree level, here archaeologists found ceremonial offerings dating to around 1,000 B.C. Your guide will also explain about the wildlife and medicinal plants that are used by the modern-day descendants of the ancient Mayan people. Tour includes complimentary beverages.
