Discover the shimmering limestone island of Lifou. Visit a lush botanical garden to admire the multitude of endemic plants such as the vanilla plant. Then visit the breath-taking cliffs of Jokin - impressive 120-ft cliffs made of ancient, fossilized coral.

Board your vehicle and drive across the narrow neck of Lifou to Hnathalo, passing through the settlements of Xépénéhé and Kumo. Stop at a vanilla plantation for a dual tour. Enter the vanilla house and learn about the history, cultivation and preparation of the Loyalty Islands’ vanilla pods. Dependent upon availability, you may get the chance to taste some vanilla drinks and cakes that are regularly sold at a little market by the entrance. Then, enter the forest on a walking tour with your guide to learn about the animals of Lifou, such as coconut crabs and bats. Time permitting, shop for vanilla products for your own recipes back at home.

Hike with a local guide in an authentic old-growth forest. Your guide will show you some of the island's oldest trees, and you'll discover how Melanesian culture has used endemic plants both historically and currently. Along the way, take pictures of the seashore cliffs, then relax with some drinks. 

The coral reef, which has developed in the calm seas, is covered by the snorkeling area. From the stairs and several lookouts, you can see the coral through the surface with ease. Only a few meters from the shore, in this protected location without a beach, corals began to grow.
