Borobudur, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the world’s largest Buddhist monument and the secrets of its creation, remain a mystery. According to historical accounts, it appears that Borobudur may have been deserted soon after it was built, when the Sailenra Dynasty was overthrown in AD 850. For more than 1,000 years, it lay hidden under dense jungle vegetation until its rediscovery in 1814. Over the next century, the vegetation was cleared and the process of restoring the two million pieces of andesite stone began.

Surrounded by paddy fields and landscaped grounds, Joglo Hill boasts traditional Javanese-style accommodations. Begin your tour as we head to the Marina Bay Sands observation deck, situated 650 feet above ground, to enjoy a different perspective of Singapore. Located 57 storeys up from the heart of the Marina Bay area, the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck boasts scenic views of the panoramic vistas of Marina Bay and Singapore’s world-class cityscape. Try and take a bird’s-eye view of Gardens by the Bay and the impressive Supertree Grove, or admire the sea view that stretches from Marina South Pier to the Singapore Strait.

This tour offers an interesting view of life outside the city, and starts with a visit to the Tiong Bahru Wet Market to see the locals buy their daily groceries and vegetables. Next, pass by the Kranji Dam area—once a swamp used as the first landing spot for Japanese Advance Boats during World War II. Take time to visit the mysterious, mist-veiled Cloud Forest, where a 115-foot ‘mountain’ showcases the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and presents plant life from the tropical highlands (up to 6,500 feet above sea level). Next, you’ll head to the Marina Bay Sand’s observation deck, situated 650 feet above ground, to enjoy a different perspective of Singapore. Finally, enjoy a coach ride back to the cruise centre.

Next, gain insight into Singapore's history on a riverboat cruise. The Singapore River has seen 150 years of commercial activity and has been at the heart of the city's growth from an obscure fishing village to a great seaport and metropolis. A 30-minute ride on a low-slung riverboat enables you to appreciate this transformation. Today, the Singapore River is still buzzing with life and activity, but the waterfront now plays host to a colorful kaleidoscope of restaurants, wine bars, entertainment spots and retail stores. You'll also catch a glimpse, from a distance, of the famous Merlion fountain and Marina Bay Sands Hotel (weather conditions permitting).

The Night Safari is the world's first wildlife park purpose-built to be viewed at night. It is not an ordinary zoo simply illuminated by night or a modern version of nocturnal houses found in many zoos. Set in 98 acres of dense secondary forest, the Night Safari offers visitors the rather fascinating experience of observing wildlife in a tropical jungle at night.

Leaving the ship by coach, you'll begin a very relaxing panoramic tour of this tiny, but lovely, country. Singapore is an economic and social stronghold in the Pacific Rim, and as you set out to explore, you will see the Business District that is responsible for the nation's fiscal security.

The 13th- to 16th-century archeological sites of the Majapahit Hindhu Kingdom are located just 90 minutes from Surabaya. Specifically, many ancient temples can be found in the Trowulan area, near Mojokerto city. Begin your day of learning with a visit to the Trowulan Archeological Museum, which houses superb examples of Majapahit sculpture and pottery from East Java. From there, continue to the Segaran Pool—the largest ancient pool used as a place of recreation for the Majapahit family. The most interesting ruins here include the entrance to the Bajang Ratu Temple, with its strikingly sculpted Kala Heads, and the Tikus Temple used for ritual bathing and cleansing. Leave the Trowulan area and head to a local restaurant for lunch, returning to the ship (a one-hour drive) in the late afternoon.

Take a brief tour of the building that was the first Dutch Government building in Surabaya during the colonial era. Next, you’ll see the Submarine Monument—a real KRI Pasopati 410-type Whiskey-Class Russian submarine used in 1952 by the Indonesian Navy. Legend holds that it was erected in 1289 to honor King Kertanegara of the Singosari Dynasty. The old buildings that once housed the factory are built in Dutch colonial style and date back to 1858—these are now a museum.

Board the train for your journey to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Established in 1975, the facility began with seven orphaned elephants. Today, some of these original orphans enjoy seeing their grandchildren born in the same location. The original objective of establishing the orphanage was inclined more towards attracting tourism, but it soon became a conservation and educational center. With the help of local and foreign elephant experts, Pinnawela started a scientific captive-breeding program for elephants. Freedom of movement for the herd increased the chances for individuals of both genders to get together and mate, and in 1984, the first Pinnawela baby was born. The success story of Pinnawela has drawn the attention of scientists from all over the world. A considerable number of books and research articles on Pinnawela have been published in several languages. The members of the Pinnawela herd have been filmed, videoed and photographed thousands of times by professionals.

Start your tour with a coach ride to St Paul, where the first inhabitants of Réunion settled in 1646. You'll follow the west (leeward) coast road, which is fringed with a long ribbon of beaches -- some with white sand and some with black sand.

It is a 48-mile drive to Addo Elephant Park, which covers nearly half a million acres of bush country, and is home to approximately 450 Addo elephants. Amazingly, this population has bred from the few elephants that remained in the area after the herd was almost wiped out in the 1920s. Although it belongs to the same species as the African elephant (Loxodonta africana), the reddish Addo elephant is smaller with more rounded ears, and the females generally have no tusks. On a two-hour game drive, you will hopefully encounter this endemic animal, as well as various species of antelope. Also noteworthy is the flightless dung-beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. The village of Triolet is home to Mauritius’ largest Hindu temple built in 1819 in honor of the gods Shiva, Krishna, Vishnu, Muruga, Brahma and Ganesh. You will also visit Labourdonnais village. The Château de Labourdonnais was built in 1858 and, soon afterwards, a tropical orchard was planted on the grounds of the estate. A few centenary mango trees are still alive and well here. A sugar factory was also built in the village, and sugar production remained the estate’s primary economic activity. When the factory was demolished in 1960, a major agricultural diversification program took place with the creation of a modern 120-acre orchard, planted with a wide variety of tasty tropical fruits such as mangos, lychees, pineapples, guavas, bananas, passionfruit, kumquat, grapefruit and other citrus. The annual fruit production is approximately 1,000 tons and enables the manufacture of various naturally flavored fruit by-products such as fruit bars, jams, marmalades and fresh fruit juice.
