For centuries, the Dominican Republic has produced extraordinary rums, and you will gain a step-by-step understanding of the process at a leading rum factory. Fort San Felipe will offer a glimpse into early life in Puerto Plata, as the Spanish-built fortress is the only remaining structure from the 16th century. Nearby, you will enjoy free time in Central Park, a popular gathering spot in the heart of the city. It is also known as Independence Square in tribute to General Gregorio Luperón, who helped unite the Dominican Republic following the War of Restoration. You will also have the chance to see a museum with an extraordinary collection of amber artifacts and Puerto Plata’s stadium, where so many of the country’s baseball stars have played. Strolling the malecón seafront boulevard will offer yet another look at local life.

Explore the wilderness that surrounds the remote mountain community of Jamao al Norte, beginning with a leisurely horseback ride into the lush landscape. You will follow a trail that winds through the jungle-like forest, where the only sounds will be the rhythmic clip clop of the horse’s hooves and birds chirping in the dense foliage. The setting will be absolutely enchanting as it is completely natural. In time, you will arrive at the Jamao River, a crystal-clear waterway with forested and steep rocky banks that will be beautifully reflected on the water’s surface. You will then ease into a two-person kayak and paddle along at your leisure, pausing every so often to take in the stunning scenery and scan the shoreline for wildlife. The river is typically so clear that you will be able to see fish swimming below. Following a hearty lunch at a nearby restaurant, you can enjoy free time for hiking.

This unforgettable excursion will have you traveling along the coastlines on the Sir Francis Drakes Highway heading through small villages such as Capoons Bay, Apple Bay, Carrot Bay, and then you will ascend about 900 feet above sea level between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The Island Zipline Adventure course is a combination of the Osprey Zipline plus the Seahawk Zip to give you six high-flying zips plus a series of V-net bridges, chimney climbs and cargo nets, designed to challenge but not overwhelm your physical and mental strength.

This 1.5-hour adventure brings you up-close with swimming pigs as you watch them swim at a private island. Breathe in the salty air as you ride in a boat across electric-blue waters surrounded by wide-open ocean scenery. Travel to a private isle nestled among the northern Berry Islands.
