This tour is made easier by riding a pedelec  an electrically powered bicycle which assists the rider's pedal power at speeds of up to 25 km/h. The city of Ålesund is a wonderland of fjords, mountains, and island chains. These features make it ideal for exploration by pedelec. Leaving the port, you'll ride through Ålesund and over bridges to the residential areas of the pretty island of Hessa with its enchanting observation point. Your tour will then take you on to the Aksla mountain behind the town, offering spectacular views of its colourful historic houses and the sea with its many islands. The return route will see you cycling through a series of typical villages on your way back to Ålesund, where a break will allow you to explore the city before going back to your ship.

Ålesund is a charming island town set against an awe-inspiring canvas of mountains, fjords, and sea. And the best way of seeing all the scenery close-up is on two wheels. After collecting your bike at the port, you'll follow your guide past the flamboyant Art Nouveau and mock-Gothic buildings, which stand testament to the rebirth of the town after the devastating fire of 1904. Once you've admired the unusual architecture, you'll take the picturesque coastal road and bridge to Heissa. This lovely, village-dotted island is crowned by Sukkertoppen or "Sugar Loaf Top" mountain, which towers over 300 metres above the sea. Capture the panoramic views on camera before returning to Ålesund and climbing the Aksla mountain behind the town for a different perspective. At the top, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views over the town and surrounding archipelago. After drinking in the scenery, you'll have a final chance to stroll around the old town and snap up some souvenirs before returning to your ship.

Board a private chartered boat to explore one of the gems of Norway's fjords, heading inland from Ålesund. Built on several islands stretching out into the ocean, the town of Ålesund boasts a beautiful setting. A large part of the town was destroyed by fire in 1904 then rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style popular in the first decade of the 20th-century. A short walk will take you to the sightseeing boat that will host you on your cruise up the 33km-long Hjørundfjord. The fjord is considered one of the most magnificent in Norway. It is around 440 metres deep and surrounded on both sides by numerous mountain peaks, some rising up to around 1.700 metres above sea level. Returning from Hjørundfjord, the boat will continue through Vegsundet and Borgundfjord back to Ålesund, where a short walk will take you back to the ship.

This tour will take you to see Alesund, a town founded in 1793 and now one of the most important seaports in Norway. A fire devastated the town in 1904 that destroyed the city centre. However, the town literally rose up like a Phoenix from the ashes and was beautifully rebuilt in art nouveau style. Today, Ålesund is one of the world's few art nouveau towns that have succeeded in retaining their architectural integrity. Your guide will take you on an enjoyable sightseeing tour of the city, visiting an open-air museum and a unique local boat collection. You will also have a stop to admire the exterior of Ålesund Church, the biggest one in Ålesund, built in concrete and Norwegian marble with beautiful decorated stained-glass windows.

Climb onto a paddleboard and join the vibrant heart of life in Ålesund from an original perspective. As you'll discover, the city's historic "main street" is actually a stretch of water: the narrow Brosundet (Bridge Sound), which cuts through the heart of the city. Your senses will come alive with the buzz, aromas and the pastel colours of the Art Nouveau facades adorning the city's main artery. As your paddle slices through the crystal-clear water, you'll pass under bridges while waving to the friendly faces adorning the sound. Leaving the sound, the endless horizon of the Borgund Fjord's opens up before you, revealing Sula Mountain and the Sunnmøre Alps. Sitting low in the water and gazing up at this magnificent picture is a humbling experience even for the most seasoned traveler. Gliding out on Borgund Fjord and discovering Ålesund from the water feels like stepping back in time.

The tour begins with a short sightseeing tour of Alesund, a town that is famed for its beautiful art nouveau buildings. The excursion then continues by taking you through an underwater tunnel to reach Giske Island, a place of importance during the Viking era. The whole island covers an area of just 2.67 square kilometres and was populated by no more than 717 residents in 2010. You will visit Giske Church, a 12th-century Roman marble church on the southern side of the island. Continue on to the island of Godøy and the charming fishing village of Alnes, whose pretty lighthouse safely guides sailors into its Atlantic shores. Your tour concludes with your return to the ship.

Ålesund is the most important town on the northwest coast of Norway, today with a population of approx. 40.000. The setting is superb, built on three islands stretching out into the sea with the spectacular Sunnmoere Alps in the background. Leave the port, board the coach for a short drive to Fagerlia school-centre and to our hike starting point. The experience will be thrilling as we walk along a path just large enough for two people to pass next to the other. Climbing up the ridge of mount Aksla we can enjoy great views on both sides of the hill. To the north we have fjords, islands and in the distance the open sea; to the southeast we have a range of snowclad peaks and the Borgundfjord. We continue along the path that gets a little more strenuous, but well worth the effort! Passing by the so-called "dams"  in former days the town got its drinking water from here  and after approx. 75 minutes walk, we reach the viewpoint and we stop a while to admire the incredible scenery! The last leg of the hike consists of descending the 418 steps to the little park at the foot of mount Aksla. On the way back to our ship, we have the opportunity to admire the special "Art Nouveau" architecture of the town, rebuilt after a disastrous fire swept through the centre in January 1904, destroying almost 800 wooden houses. Finally, we will reach the pier on foot.

Fancy rounding off your time in Norway with a look at Bergen from a unique waterside perspective? Then join this enjoyable outing and board a rigid inflatable boat - RIB - to explore Bergen's harbour and adjoining fjords. A short walk from the pier will see you reach the RIB landing stage, where you will then be issued with gear and given a short safety briefing. Once on board, keep your camera at hand to capture splendid views at various scenic spots, where stops will be made, and brief information provided by your captain. This celebration of western Norway's awe-inspiring landscape then draws to a close with your return to Bergen and your ship.

Add a certain highlight to your cruise, earn yourself a few bragging rights and prepare to soak up the fabulous panorama of Norway's naturescape on a 30-minute helicopter flight over Bergen and its surrounding area. A minivan transfer will first see you reach the helicopter pad for an initial briefing on your flight. Then, with your earphones on, you'll take to the skies. See how Bergen is cradled in between the hills, mountains, and North Sea as you fly over the city centre, then on to the neighbouring mountains and fjords. Weather permitting, you may even get to catch sight of a glacier in the distance. Keep your camera poised throughout the amazing flight to capture every second for posterity and to share with people at home. Once you return to the ground, the minivan will be waiting to return to you the ship.

Norway's second city has undergone various transformations over its 900 years of history. On this tour, see for yourself how the Black Plague, fires, politics, and industry have shaped beautiful Bergen. After leaving the pier, you'll pass the 13th-century Haakon's Hall and the Rosenkrantz Tower en route to Bryggen, the historic Hanseatic Wharf, an area once devastated by fire but later rebuilt and now bustling with life. Continue past the fish market towards Magic Ice, a wondrous art gallery experience. Both the sculpture exhibition and the interior design are made of clear ice! Enjoy a drink served in a glass chipped out of an ice block while exploring this magical world. Then drive past the picturesque houses of the Nordnes peninsula, on to the main sights in the city centre and down the city's oldest street. Finally, travel through the historic Sandviken and Skuteviken districts, with their tiny, white-painted, traditional wooden houses and colourful warehouses along the waterfront.

See the sights in comfort on this coach tour through Bergen, which was the largest city in Norway until 1830. Relax into your seat as you pass the main sights including the historic Bryggen district, with its gabled wooden warehouses from the hanseatic period and Haakons Hall, erected during the reign of King Haakon Haakonsson (1247-1261) and the most important building of the royal residence in the XIII century. Drive past Rosenkratz Tower, built in the XIII century and rebuilt around 1560 as a combined fortress and residence. We will also admire St. Mary's Church, dating back to the XII century, and splendidly Grieg Hall concert hall, home to the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Pass through the historic Bryggen and Hanseatic district before heading to the village of Voss. This popular winter resort is set by a tranquil lake. A train will take you through pastoral countryside and up to Myrdal, in the mountains; here we will board the Flam Line, one of the most spectacular railroads in Europe. Upon arrival in Flam that lies on Norways longest fjord (204 km), the Sognafjord, you will have a short presentation about the village before continuing to Stalheimskleivene zigzag road. Next, enjoy a lunch served in a nearby hotel. Your afternoon tour will continue by bus to Tvinde Waterfalls for a brief but worthwhile photo stop! Return to Bergen via Voss.

Leave the port and travel out of town across a variety of landscapes and passing the villages of Eikelandsosen and Mundheim on the way to Nordheimsund. This is the place where you will stop for a pleasant coffee break and a typical Norwegian pastry. Next, it will time to take photos at the Steindalsfossen waterfall  one can apparently walk behind it without getting wet! Having passed the Kvamskogen Mountain Plateau, we descend towards the Tokagjelet Gorge. With its many chalets and summerhouses, Kvamskogen is a popular leisure area for Bergen locals. The tour continues with more scenic drives passing small forests: these landscapes are typical of western Norway, as small farms are dotted across the steep hillsides. Your return to Bergen will pass through mountain lakes and several suburban villages. Once arrived in Bergen get your bearings with a short guided tour past the fish market, the Bergenhus Fortress and the Rosenkrantz Tower before returning to the ship.

Experience the city of Bergen and its stunning fjord from the sea and enjoy delicious local seafood in these beautiful surroundings on board the M/S Bruvik. Walk from the pier to Bryggen and admire the old merchant buildings rebuilt like they stood in the Middle Ages after a disastrous fire struck the area. The whole area is a Unesco World Heritage Site. Stroll through the narrow alleyways running between the rows of houses to the city centre and the Fish Market where you will board the venerable M/S Bruvik. Enjoy the 90-minute cruise through Vågen Bay and out into the Byfjorden, the bay of Eidsvågen with its beautiful fjord and mountain views, before turning around to cruise past AskøyIsland, and then heading back to the Fish Market. Lovers of fine food will not want to miss this special opportunity to discover the King Crab, a giant crab that lives in the depths of the cold Arctic sea around Russia and Norway. Considered a delicacy, some king crabs can measure up to 2 metres and weighs as much as 10 kilos. After a short walk from the pier, we will reach the North Cape Adventure Centre for a safety briefing and our floatation suits. We will board a special RIB-boat for approx. 1-hour sailing trip to Sarnesfjord. Next, you will continue to the tent camp where you will taste the delicious crabs.

Next, a coach drive to Sarnes Lavvo Camp will make you able to enjoy a short sightseeing of Magerøya Island. Lovers of fine food will know what a delicacy king crab is  and those as yet unfamiliar with this tasty treat can now find out. The giant crab, which can measure up to 2 m in length and weigh up to 10 kg each, is found in the depths of the cold Arctic waters around Russia and Norway. After a short walk from the pier to the coach, a 15-minute drive will take you to the beach and the Sarnes Lavvo Camp. There, you will have the opportunity to taste the delicious crabs in the camp tent. Your "royal" culinary treat ends with your return to the port and your ship.

This scenic outing amid the lovely Norwegian countryside begins with a coach ride through the town of Honningsvåg and along the shores of Skipsfjorden en route to the tiny hamlet of Skarsvåg, the world's most northerly fishing village and home to a population of only 60 people. This is also the point at which you'll leave the coach and begin hiking up to the natural rock formation known as Kirkeporten Rock. Look through the arch for views of Mefjorden, the North Cape and North Cape Horn. Prior to the spread of Christianity to these northern climes, both Kirkeporten and North Cape Horn were used as sacrificial sites by the Sami people. Enjoy further great views on the way back down to Skarsvåg, after which the coach will return you to the ship.

Grab your hiking boots or at least some sturdy walking shoes and prepare to get a lungful of fresh Norwegian air while also enjoying a hike from the town of Honningsvåg to the beautiful Knivskjellodden peninsula. A 45-minute coach transfer to reach your starting point begins the tour, after which you'll begin to hike through the pristine Norwegian countryside, with photogenic views all around. You'll also have a packed lunch and water with you, which you can enjoy during a welcome break that also forms part of the hike. With approx. 2 to 2.5 hours each way, you'll have spent about 5 hours touching base with nature when you return to the pick-up point to re-board the coach for a chance to relax on the return transfer to the ship.

Thrill-seekers take note: spend a few hours exploring the captivating hinterland of Honningsvåg in a two-person ATV. Best of all, you can take the wheel yourself  or take turns with your companion. After leaving the ship, a 5-minute walk will first see you reach the ATV station for a short safety briefing and to be issued with your vehicle. You will then be good to go, travel through town and then take the gravel track up Honningsvågfjellet, also called NATO Mountain due to a military base at the top. Information on Magerøya Island's unique landscape, flora and fauna will be provided at several stops along the way, while also providing a chance to savour the incredible tundra landscape. A break then follows in Sarnes, where you will leave your vehicle for coffee in a traditional Sami tent, called a lavvo. Join the locals in making yourself comfortable on reindeer skins covering the ground and watch while the coffee brews over an open fire in time-honoured fashion. After saying farewell to your Sami hosts, you will begin your return drive to Honningsvåg and your ship.

Adrenaline, fun and spectacular views, a ride in a RIB, a rigid inflatable boat, is definitely the right excursion for the young at heart. So, keep your camera handy to catch some of the most spectacular views around Måløy. Leaving the port, get your equipment, listean to a safety briefing and then start your adventure on the open sea to admire the magnificent nature along the way. You will visit Refvika beach, awarded to be the prettiest beach in Norway several times. You will also pass some of the mightiest lighthouses in Norway and the biggest bird cliff in southern Norways, Einevarden. Birdwatchers will be happy to spot sea eagles, puffins, guillemots, and several other species. This is truly a unique and once in a lifetime experience.

Unspoilt nature, beautiful beaches and a rock formation shaped over centuries by Mother Nature are the ingredients of this half-day excursion around Måløy. Leave the port and reach your first destination, Kråkenes lighthouse. Established in 1906 and surrounded by open sea, the lighthouse has several wind records and is located on one of the most weather-exposed places on the west coast of Norway between Ålesund in the north, and Bergen in the south. After a photo stop, you will board the coach and drive to Refvik beach. The 1.5 km long sandy beach with its chalk-white shell is one of Norway's finest bathing beaches and is worthy a short walk. A rare phenomenon is that all houses in Refvik have a thick stone wall on one side to prevent them from being blown into the sea by the strong autumn storms that are pushed down through the valley floor. Next destination is a true masterpiece of Mother Nature in Kannestein. This 3-metre-high stone sculpture shows the power of nature itself as the most accomplished artist. Kannesteinen is not very spectacular if you see it from the seaside but admiring it from the countryside, well, this is something which you will need to catch on your camera. After a stop here, the coach drive back to Måløy and the pier concludes the tour.

Sheer cliffs, landscapes you can admire from the sea, a museum and monastery and boat transfers, plus a delicious lunch... that's what awaits you on this full-day excursion. The tour begins with a ferry crossing and a scenic drive from Måløy to Fløorø. A phostop will be made along the way to see Hornelen Cliff, said to be the highest in Europe: it towers 2.822 feet above the sea. Upon your arrival at Fløorø you will have a tour of the coastal museum established in 1980 and is constantly expanding its collection. The aim is to safeguard natural and cultural belongings both past and present. Protected sea houses and dwelling houses have been collected from around the county and set up in Fløorø in connection with the museum. The exhibition section includes cultural historical collections, everything from household utensils and furniture to fishing and hunting equipment. Many magnificent boats have found their place in the large hall, where you can really admire the art of boat building through the ages. Considerably more modern is the model of the Snorre platform. With the aid of models, video and photographs you receive an introduction into how a highly technological oil platform works, and how oil is found and extracted from the North Sea. After the visit, you will enjoy a lunch before reaching the centre of Fløorø where the boat awaits us. Our next destination is a saling to the island of Kinn which is home of the legendary Kinn Church from the 1100s. The church was built in Romanesque style and is one of the oldest churches in the country. Close to the Church, you can admire the massive Kinn Cliff, a famous sailing mark along the coast, due to its characteristic shape. Follow the path up the cleft of the cliff for spectacular sea and island views, so make sure to have your camera with you. After a tour of Kinn, board the boat again and enjoy a scenic navigation back to Måløy, passing many islands and skerrits on the way.

Paddling provides fantastic opportunities for outdoor and nature experiences. The sea is in constant change and a kayak adventure is the best way to stay in harmony with nature and have a close approach with everything, the sky, the coast, and the weather at the same time. The trip starts on the wave mountain as we paddle from Vågsberget towards Vågsvåg and Holvik. In this coastal area there are small islets and reefs that provide shelter for the sea that lies just outside. A good occasion to breath healthy, salty air and enjoy stunning views so, bring your camera with you.

A unique experience, in contact with nature, and with the animal associated with the myth and magic of Christmas await you on this half-day excursion. Leaving the port, a coach ride of about 30 minutes takes you to a local farm where you can admire these beautiful animals. The farm is home to between 50 and 60 reindeer, as well as llamas, ponies, goats, and dogs, from adults to new-born calves. The animals graze in a varied area with forest and cultivated land. After listening to some information about these animals, you can also feed them if you wish. Don't forget your camera to capture some shots of this beautiful experience. The tour ends with a return to the port.

This half-day excursion focuses on the Viking saga of Selje Island, a small, rocky island with a history rich in mystery and legend. After a scenic drive from Måløy, you will arrive the town of Selje to start a short city walk to get to know the place, before stepping onto the boat that will take you out to Selja. Experience the saga island of Selja, the place where the story of the first saint, the only female saint, some of the country's first churches and one of the oldest monasteries in the "country far north" started - and still lives, a thousand years later. You will be fascinated to learn the story of Sunniva, an Irish Princess Cruises who left medieval Ireland with around 1000 people to escape Viking raids. During the journey, they reached this desolate island and took refuge there without knowing that it was actually the Vikings' own land. Your guide will explain the rest of the history that still fascinates the locals and bathes the place in a strange light of mystery. You can climb the narrow stairs in the church tower, listen to the church bell with the beautiful sound and go into the holy Sunnivahola, which according to Sigrid Undset is "Norway's oldest church roof". Klosterkyrkja and Sunnivahola have never had a wart deviation, and it is therefore in our time possible to hold weddings, christenings, and confirmations here. From the small Sunnivakjelda you can drink water that is supposed to be healthy. After a brief visit to the island, you will return by boat to Selje and take the coach back to Måløy and the ship.

If you like solitary landscapes and unspoilt nature, this is the right excursion for you. Don't forget your camera because the route is very scenic and will allow you to take some very impressive photos for your memory book. Leaving Måløy, you will enjoy a panoramic drive on Stadlandet to the West Cape, Norway's westernmost viewpoint with mainland connection towering some 500 metres above the Atlantic. On clear days, the view in all directions is marvelous. You will see the dreaded waters of Stadhavet Ocean with the Sunnmøre Alps, the Hornelen Peak and Ålfot glacier in the background. Continue to Selja beach, located in a secluded cove of the tiny village of Selje. The 500-metre-long Selja beach has soft chalk-white sand and is famous for its calm waters which make it possible to swim and fish. It also allows views of the Selje island, an island of mysterious ruins and legends, which was once home of St. Sunniva. This island played a central role in the early history of the Christian church in Norway. After taking a pleasant walking on Selja beach, you will return to Måløy on a different road, along the coast for more fantastic scenery back towards the ship.

The vibrant Norwegian town of Tromsø is one of the best places on earth to observe the fabulous natural phenomenon called the Northern Lights. No surprise, then, that it is also home to a major university and the Polaria Centre, which this tour will give you an opportunity to explore for one hour. Thanks to its spectacular setting on the island of Tromsøya, the town enjoys all-round views of the amazing surrounding landscape - wild, rugged, and snow-capped. An enjoyable sightseeing tour of Tromsø begins this outing, after which you will pay the fascinating Polaria Centre a visit. Try a polar walk, check out the various aquariums showing marine life in polar areas and watch a wide-screen film about arctic life. You will then continue on to the so-called "Arctic Cathedral", which is in fact a parish church. The striking building  pure white and triangular - was constructed in 1965 and is often called "the Opera House of Norway" because of its distinctive look that somewhat resembles the famous Sydney Opera House. This arctic tour ends with your return to the pier and your ship.

The pretty and bustling Norwegian town of Tromsø, situated on the small island of Tromsøya, is a place of art, history, excellent cuisine, and a sophisticated nightlife. However, the feature for which Tromsø is best known is its northerly location, some 350 kilometres further up from the start of the Arctic Circle and one of the best spots on earth to witness the curious phenomenon known as the Northern Lights. Your tour of the town begins with a 1-hour visit at Tromsø Museum for a look at its collection of Sámi artefacts, archaeological finds, religious art exhibits and an intriguing machine that simulates the Northern Lights. The tour then continues towards the so-called "Arctic Cathedral", a place of worship that is actually a church. Built in 1965, the distinctive triangular architecture of the pure white structure has given it the nickname "the Opera House of Norway" due to a certain likeness to the famous Sydney Opera House. A drive-by tour of the city's main attractions then ends your excursion.

Thanks to Tromsø's location some 350 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, the town is popular as a starting point for many arctic expeditions and the gateway to the Arctic. This entertaining excursion combines a visit to the fascinating Polaria Centre with a trip to a husky farm and wilderness camp. First up is the Polaria Centre, where you can go for a polar walk, take a look at a range of aquariums supporting marine life typically found in polar areas and enjoy a wide-screen film about "life in the freezer". Then you will make your way to the wonderful husky camp which is home to a pack of over a hundred huskies. The return to the port brings this polar-themed tour to a perfect close.

Tromsø - the capital of the North - is delightfully situated on the forest-covered island of Troms. Also known as "The gateway to the Arctic", Tromsø was once a base for seal and past the coastal landscape toward Sommarøy Island. Admire the beautiful scenery around Kvaløy Island, with its wide sounds, narrow fjords, high mountains, and a spectacular chain of islands off the coast. Follow the jagged mountain peaks on the northern side of Senja Island, rising straight up from the ocean. Then enjoy a 30-minute stop on Sommarøy Island, Tromsø' biggest fishing village with around 300 inhabitants. The view is breathtaking, with the island of Senja to the south, the coastal landscapes in the north and the endless ocean to the west, as well as numerous skerries and smaller islands. On your way back, you'll pass Sandnes-sound, where you can admire the elegant, 1220m-long bridge from the sea.

You will first get to visit the truly magnificent Nidaros Cathedral, an 11th-century building erected over the burial site of King Olaf, who was subsequently sanctified and has since been revered as the patron saint of Norway. Then you'll move on to the city's Sverresborg Trøndelag open-air folk museum, a beautifully situated patch of land with around 60 historical buildings that make the past come back to life. After a 50-minute walk around the museum, you will move on to the Sverresli viewpoint for glorious vistas of the city and the surrounding area - a perfect photo opportunity. Your return to the ship then ends your tour of Trondheim.

Get set to discover the lovely Norwegian city of Trondheim - scenically set on the southern shores of Trondheimsfjord at the mouth of the River Nidelva - from the unusual perspective of a tram. And not just any old tram, but one run by the city's historical Gråkallen Line, which was opened in 1924 and has provided an indispensable service to the citizens of Trondheim ever since.
