With its May Pyramid obelisk in the middle, the pink presidential mansion on one end and the gloriously frescoed Metropolitan Cathedral along one side, this is the quintessential heart of the country. By way of contrast, you’ll travel to the working class La Boca district to stroll its El Caminito, a historic street beloved for it brightly colored buildings and for the tango dancers often seen performing impromptu on the cobbles. For still more contrast, you’ll drive through magnificently affluent Barrio Norte on a pilgrimage to Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place for Argentina’s wealthy and powerful. This miniature city of sorts is lined with grandiose mausoleums housing the mortal remains of generals, sports heroes and the great Evita herself. A spin through sprawling, leafy Palermo provides a glimpse of the city’s trendiest boutiques and cafes.

But none can compete with the elegance of the Museo Evita, housed in a 1923 mansion in the leafy Palermo district. Opened in 2002, this impeccably curated museum brims with memorabilia from her personal life and explores the social realities and international implications of her era as Argentina’s first lady.

Cruise through the labyrinthine canals of the Tigre River delta, amidst unspoiled natural beauty and unexpected English-style architecture. You’ll depart the pier by coach, first cruising the roads as you travel past stately mansions, soaring highrises and plush waterfront homes in several Buenos Aires neighborhoods. The Pan-American Highway traces the coast southward from Coquimbo, past beautiful beaches at La Herradura, Las Tacas and Guanaqueros. In time, you’ll turn inland and enter ‘Enchantment Valley’ along a country road. Here you’ll find yourself in an open-air museum of scientific and cultural importance, inhabited as far back as 4,000 years ago by the El Molle culture and other hunter communities. You’ll visit a spot where curious petroglyphs of masks, heads with antennae, tiaras, sun symbols and animal shapes appear deeply engraved into the rock surfaces, and small cup-like depressions known as piedras tacitas are carved into the stone. Explore one of Peru’s most treasured bio-reserves, the beautiful coastal desert and mountains of Paracas National Reserve. Established back in the ‘70s to protect a rare and impressive ecosystem where beautiful subtropical desert fringes the Pacific and the rich marine environment created by the upwelling Humboldt Current, the reserve is a vast geo-biological wonderland. Stunning beaches – completely devoid of any green vegetation – line the coast. Arid, sculpted mountains shift their colors with the sun. And rugged sea-cliffs take on impressive forms like the famous “Cathedral,"" a rock arc whose walls form the preferred nesting site of raucous seabirds, and the “Monk,” a brooding stone pillar parked on a small rocky outcrop at the water’s edge. A wide array of marine life finds the feeding and breeding good here – including seals and sea lions, Humboldt penguins, sea otters, dolphins and porpoises.
